Chinese Utopias Revisited

Hello everyone! I’ve been doing some thinking about how I can make this blog more active and useful for my readers and came to the conclusion that I want to inform you more regularly & in advance about upcoming expositions and interesting events.

For this time, I want to tell you about a new exhibition opening this week, called Chinese Utopias Revisited – The Elephants!

The exposition is curated by Xu Bing (Chinese artist) & Hans De Wolf (professor VUB). They invited 9 Chinese contemporary artists to present their work next to the work of a few well-known Belgian artists. The expo is about themes like overproduction in our globalized world and the amount of waste we produce. Artists: Cao Fei, Liu Xiaodong, Song Dong, Sun Yuan & Peng Yu, Wang Jiuliang, Xu Bing ,Yang Fudong, Yin Xiuzhen & many others.

This will probably not be the only exposition about China, since the director of Bozar recently visited Ai Weiwei in his home in China. They seem to have had a fruitful conversation and I expect to see several works of Ai Weiwei in Bozar soon, although there hasn’t been any official announcement yet.
